Contemporary Seashells

I have always found myself drawn to water, especially forthe natural treasures pushed from the tides of oceans and lakes. I havecollected rocks, minerals and seashells from bodies of water in Canada, Jamaicaand Mexico. For the design of my vessels, I wanted an abstract yet organicshape to hold my sea treasures. I became heavily influenced by the works ofDale Chihuly. The abstract curves and dynamic presence of his glass bowls setmy vision for my vessels to have a dynamic and individual expression. I startedto explore the curves found in nature and related the crimps in my vessels toreplicate abstract shells, holding my beloved sea treasures to give the essence of the sea. For each rock, I created its unique depression, alludingto the same way rocks and shells would fit snugly in the sand along ashoreline.
